What services does Ocean Wav Studios provide?
Ocean Wav Studios is a full service recording studio and music production company. We provide custom beats and instrumentals, vocal recording, instrument recording (excluding live drums), voice over recording, mixing, and mastering as individual services or as a process to create a song from start to finish. We meet the artist where ever it makes the most sense in the process for them.
What genres does Ocean Wav Studios work with?
We are well versed in all genres, but primarily work in rap, hip hop, r&b, alternative, indie, pop, electronic, country and christian genres. As well as audio for voice overs, video games and other video related content.
What do I need to book a session?
We require a 50% deposit to book your session. The remaining balance is due before the start of the session.
Can I book a session on the same day?
Yes, same-day bookings are allowed, but we require at least a 3 hour notice (if your requested time is available).
Is there someone there that can play bass/guitars/keys/etc. on my song?
We have relationships with some of the top session players around. We are able to provide contact information but it is your responsibility to discuss and arrange payment with the session player, which is not included in the studio booking fee.
Does my session come with mixing and mastering?
A high quality rough mix and master aka ‘walkout’ mix is included in the time for each session provided the artist leaves at least 30 min per song for the engineer to do their work. For a full quality mix and master additional time will need to be booked.
How much time is needed for mixing/mastering?
For a full quality mixing and mastering session it can take anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on the length of song and complexity. More time may be required if audio restoration, editing for timing, volume or pitch correction is needed.
How much studio time should I book?
We recommend taking as long as needed to perfect the song and recording process. Sometimes this may involve fully recording the song, scrapping it, then coming back another day to re-record it again. Once you’re satisfied with the recordings and rough mix, book an additional session for mixing/mastering. You can book a 2 hour session to start or if you know the song is more complex you’ll want to start with a 4 hour session to receive the full quality master. You also have the option to attend mix and mastering sessions in person or have the engineer finish the song remotely.
Another common option is for the artist to book a 2 hour session. Use the first hour to record, and the second hour for the engineer to start mixing and mastering the song. For R&B or genres with more vocal editing involved, we recommend booking a 4 hour session to start. The artist will leave the session with a walkout mix and master of their song, but will still need to book an additional session to guarantee a high quality master is received.
If you’re working on consistently working on multiple songs, an ep, album, audiobook or lengthy voice over project, we’d recommend booking 10 hours to start. This can be split into two different sessions within the same month and is where you’ll find our biggest price break. If you’d like to prebook more than 10 hours per month please contact the studio directly.
Am I allowed to bring guests to the session?
Yes, you can bring up to 4 people to sit in on your session. An additional $50/hr fee will be applied if this limit is exceeded.
Can I book the room for content?
Yes, there is a Room Only option available for booking without an engineer. The normal room rate applies for single camera basic content shoots, but if you have a larger professional video team there will be an additional $50/hr fee.
Can I host events or workshops at Ocean Wav Studios?
Yes, please contact us directly to discuss the scale and vision of your event.
What if I show up late for my session?
All sessions start at the time scheduled. We can not add time at the end or refund the time missed. Please plan ahead for traffic and parking to avoid being late.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the session will result in the forfeiture of your deposit, and can not be used toward future sessions. If you cancel more than 48 hours before your session, your deposit can be applied toward a new session. Session must be rescheduled within 30 days. Same day cancellations will require full payment to book future sessions.
How will my music be provided when I leave the session?
Our engineers will provide you with a ‘walkout’ mix of your song in .mp3 and .wav formats via email. We can also transfer the session to you via google drive, dropbox or hard drive. Please bring a hard drive with at least 50GB of free space and leave at least 15 minutes at the end of your session per song for file management. We are not responsible for backing up your session data. If you need us to send session files after the session has ended, a $50 recall fee will apply.
